GetEQUAL Issues Travel Alerts

LGBT people traveling in Mississippi should do so with caution, according to GetEQUAL Mississippi.  The travel alert was based on pending legislation that would allow “religious freedom” discrimination allowing businesses to refuse service to LGBT people. The bill has passed the state Senate and may be debated in the state House this week. A similar bill is being considered in Missouri.  Another travel alert to LGBT people cautions people traveling to Dallas. GetEQUAL Texas also suggests that LGBT people not travel alone in the region. A previous alert was made for San Antonio last summer when the city council contemplated striking down a proposed nondiscrimination ordinance that included sexual orientation and gender identity.
