Same-Sex Couple Can Sue Kim Davis For Denying Marriage License, Court Rules
Kim Davis, the county clerk from Kentucky who came to notoriety for repeatedly denying marriage licenses to same-sex couples, can be sued for damages. Davis made these refusals after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that marriage equality applies nationwide, citing her religious beliefs as reason to deny licenses to same-sex couples.
Alabama Adoption Agencies Can Turn Away Gay Couples, New Alabama Law Says
House Bill 24, signed by Gov. Kay Ivey, would allow adoption agencies in Alabama to turn away gay couples. Also known as the Child Placing Agency Inclusion Act, the bill would permit adoption agencies in the state to refuse to place children based on their religious beliefs.
Tennessee High School Removes Student’s Rainbow Artwork from Classroom Display
Administrators at a high school in Tennessee have removed a student’s LGBT+ themed artwork from a classroom display case after another student complained about it. The administration said the rainbow themed drawing “disrupted the learning environment.”
