YouTube Filtering Draws Ire of Gay and Transgender Creators
We’re still wondering why Google continues to block LGBT+ videos in its “family-friendly” viewing mode. While admitting there is an issue, so far, Google has not indicated what they are going to do about it. Meanwhile, LGBT+ voices continue being silenced. This comes at a particularly difficult time for Google who is also seeing a mass exodus of advertisers who take issue with their advertisements accompanying hate videos.
Critics Say Kentucky’s New ‘Religious Freedom’ Bill Targets LGBTQ Students
Republican governor of Kentucky, Gov. Matt Bevin, recently signed a law that could give religious students free rein to discriminate in public schools. The bill permits a wide range of religious activities in taxpayer-funded public schools and refuses staff and school board interference in their activities. The law also will allows students to “voluntarily express religious or political viewpoints in school assignments”.
Alabama House Passes Anti-Gay Adoption Bill Despite Protest By Lesbian Lawmaker
Alabama House members voted to protect faith-based adoption organizations who refuse to place children with gay parents. Many have called this bill an outright attack against gay people. The bill now moves to Alabama’s Senate. Georgia’s legislature is working on a similar bill, and South Dakota, Michigan, North Dakota and Virginia have already passed similar laws.
