As Randy Berry begins his role as the United States State Department’s first ever LGBT envoy, he has a lot on his plate. He has been instructed by Secretary John Kerry to maintain the Department’s internal LGBT policies and to administer them in the many far-flung embassies and missions that the State Department has around the world while simultaneously working with local groups and governments to extend LGBT rights abroad. There’s an interesting write-up of Berry in USA Today of how he sees his new role and what all it will entail. Read the full profile here.
