LGBT TV representation on the rise

By John Mack Freeman (Thanks to Peter Coyl for the head’s up!)

Television got queerer this year according to a new study by GLAAD. 3.9 percent of all series regulars on the five major networks are lesbian, gay, or bisexual. In 2014, there were no series regulars on a major network that were transgender (However, if the critical success of Amazon’s Transparent is any indication, this may change in the near future).

ABC Family, HBO, and MTV received “Excellent” ratings for their portrayal of LGB characters in regular series roles.
