Democratic lawmakers have introduced a bill that would call for a “review all employee terminations that occurred after January 1, 1950, to determine who was wrongfully terminated owing to their sexual orientation, whether real or perceived.” Called the Lavender Offense Victim Exoneration Act, or LOVE Act, the bill was co-sponsored by 19 Democratic senators, several of whom are running for president, including Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Kamala Harris of California, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, and Cory Booker of New Jersey.
Dallas LGBTQ lawmaker torpedoes ‘Save Chick-fil-A’ bill
Rep. Julie Johnson used a legislative maneuver known as a “point of order” to successfully kill a bill that LGBTQ rights advocates said would have perpetuated anti-gay discrimination. The bill, known as the “Save Chick-fil-A bill” would have, “given Texans a license to discriminate against people based on their gender identity or sexual orientation.”
